On September 3, Australian political scientist and journalist Mark Lowe told Izvestia on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum 2025 (WEF 2025) that he considers it his duty to show the world the experiences of the residents of Donbass and refugees from the region.

"People still don't understand (the problems of Donbass — Ed.), because they only talk about current problems, about what is happening now," said the political scientist.

He admitted that working on some stories is emotionally difficult.

"When I interviewed her, I was in tears," Lowe said of a conversation with a girl named Diana, who left Donbass as a child.

The political scientist added that Russia's role in the global economy, in his opinion, is enormous, and its resources attract the attention of many countries, including the United States.

Earlier, on August 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a working trip to Sarov that he was doing everything possible to stop aggression against the population of Donbass. He noted that propaganda works in countries controlled by an unfriendly elite: they brainwash, they say that Russia started the conflict, forgetting that they themselves began aggression in 2014, when they began using tanks and aircraft against the peaceful population of Donbass.

The Jubilee Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), which runs from September 3-6, promises to be one of the largest in all its years, with representatives from more than 70 countries and territories confirming their participation. The key issues for discussion will be the introduction of modern technologies, the development of infrastructure projects and new logistics corridors, as well as the training of qualified specialists. Special attention will be paid to international cooperation.
