Member of the NBA Hall of Fame George Raveling died at the age of 88

National Basketball Association (NBA) Hall of Fame member George Raveling has died at the age of 88. This was reported on September 3 by NBC News.

"It is with deep sadness and unimaginable pain that we announce the passing of our beloved coach, George Henry Raveling, who bravely and with dignity faced cancer," the athlete's family said in a statement.

Raveling played a significant role in Michael Jordan signing a historic sponsorship deal with Nike. He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015. Raveling coached from 1972 to 1994, working in university teams. He was an assistant coach of the U.S. national team at the victorious 1984 Olympics, and was also a member of the coaching staff of the national team at the 1988 Games, where the Americans won the bronze medal.
