Sending German troops to Ukraine is ruled out until a possible truce is established. This was stated on September 2 by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during an interview with the Sat.1 TV channel.

"He ruled out the possibility of sending German troops to Ukraine before a possible cease—fire," the publication says.

According to Merz, even in the event of a truce, the process of deploying troops will be complicated by a large number of obstacles.

On September 1, British Defense Minister John Healey said that the country was assessing the combat readiness of its troops in case of their possible deployment on the territory of Ukraine. According to the official, action plans in case of a cease-fire are being developed with the participation of more than 200 military specialists from 30 countries.

On August 29, British analyst Anatole Lieven called the plan to send peacekeepers to Ukraine bordering on madness. The author notes that even the total number of troops of the countries that supported the initiative will be insufficient. In his opinion, the rhetoric about security guarantees for Kiev through the military contingent of the European Union (EU) with the support of the United States is an attempt to disrupt the peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
