Alexander Drymanov, the former head of the Moscow headquarters of the Investigative Committee of Russia, who was sentenced to 12 years for accepting bribes, was released from a penal colony in Mordovia ahead of schedule for health reasons. This was reported to Izvestia on September 2 in the Temnikovsky district Court of the region.

"On August 27, 2024, the court granted Drymanov's petition. He also left on the 27th, as in the case of consideration of the petition due to illness, it is subject to execution. A complaint was filed against this decision. On November 11, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation upheld the court's decision," the source said.

It is specified that the release due to illness became possible after a medical examination and a positive court decision, which was confirmed by the Supreme Court of Russia.

In September 2020, the Court of Appeal upheld the general's sentence. In March of the same year, the court sentenced Drymanov to 12 years in a high-security penal colony with a fine of 196 million rubles. He was also stripped of his general's rank and the medal "For Services to the Fatherland, II degree" and banned from holding positions in government for a period of seven years.

The general was detained in July 2018 as part of the Shakro Molodoy case. In addition, he was accused of accepting a bribe from his former first deputy Denis Nikandrov for his appointment. Drymanov was charged with two counts of bribery, and the court arrested him at the same time.
