The economist did not rule out Hungary's loss of the right of veto in the EU
Sergei Zainullin, an associate professor at the RUDN University Faculty of Economics, said Hungary could lose its veto power if it loses its lawsuit against the European Union (EU). The economist informed RIA Novosti about this on September 2.
Legal proceedings related to frozen Russian assets have begun in Europe. Hungary has decided to challenge the decision of Brussels officials to transfer the proceeds from the blocked funds to Kiev. But Budapest's voice was ignored.
"In recent years, the EU has openly ignored national legislation, pan-European norms and even international law. There are plenty of examples: from embezzlement of funds to interference in elections, and not only within the European Union," he said.
According to Zainullin, the legality of the EU Council's measures raises questions, as it is possible to talk about a violation of the fundamental principles of the European Union.
