Starting from September 15, China will introduce a trial visa-free regime for Russian citizens for a year.

Starting from September 15, 2025, Russian citizens will be able to visit China without a visa for up to 30 days. This was announced on September 2 by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Guo Jiakun.

"From September 15, 2025 to September 14, 2026, a trial visa—free policy will be in effect for Russian citizens with regular passports," Guo Jiakun said at a briefing.

He specified that Russians will be able to visit China for business, tourism, meetings with relatives and friends, or exchange visits. According to him, China attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations and supports the strengthening of cooperation with Russia, which contributes to the development of strategic partnership between the two countries.

"We welcome even more Russian friends to visit China more often," he added.

Russian citizens will be able to enter China using a regular passport.

On September 2, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko noted the potential of Russia and China to double the tourist flow. According to him, the tourist flow has reached 70% of the pre-pandemic level with more than 230 weekly flights. In the field of education, the increase was more than 25%, Chernyshenko added. He specified that the number of Chinese students at Russian universities has exceeded 50,000 people.
