In Ukraine, the Lviv court has chosen a preventive measure for Mikhail Stselnikov, suspected of murdering former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andrei Parubiy, in the form of detention for 60 days without the right to bail. This was reported on September 2 by the Ukrainian newspaper Suspilne.

"At 14:00, a measure of restraint was announced: arrest for a period of 60 days without the right to bail," the message says.

At the same time, Stselnikov stated in the courtroom that he did not object to such a preventive measure.

In addition, after the meeting, the head of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, Nikolai Meret, announced that the case would be reclassified. According to him, the defendant may be charged with an article on an attempt on the life of a state or public figure instead of an article on premeditated murder.

So, as part of the charges, Stselnikov can receive from 10 to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.

On the same day, the suspect in the murder of Parubiy confessed to what he had done and denied rumors about the involvement of the Russian Federation in the crime. The defendant called his actions "personal revenge of the Ukrainian authorities."

The murder of Parubiy became known on August 30. According to police, in the afternoon, the department received a report of a shooting in the Sykhiv district of Lviv. As a result of his injuries, the ex-speaker of the Rada died on the spot.

On August 30, the ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Rodion Miroshnik, suggested that the murder of Parubiy could be connected with the cleansing of the political field by the new Bandera from the old Bandera.
