Experts named popular alternatives to Chinese cars among Russians
Owners of Chinese cars who put their cars up for sale in 2025 and chose a replacement on the secondary market were most often interested in models of Russian and Japanese brands (19% each). In turn, 16.7% of sellers were interested in Chinese cars. Models from Germany (15.9%) and Korea (12.9%) attracted even less attention. Avito Auto experts told Izvestia about this on September 2.
An alternative to Chinese cars are proven and familiar Japanese cars or inexpensive representatives of B- and C-classes. For example, Toyota Camry is being considered instead of Voyah Free, Lixiang L7, Geely Coolray, and Land Cruiser instead of Haval F7x. Lada Priora and Granta, Ford Focus, Kia Rio and Hyundai Solaris models can become alternatives to Lifan Solano, Chery Tiggo (T11) and other age models.
The owners of the Zeekr brands (45% of them are interested in used Chinese cars), Livan (43.3%) and Zotye (24.6%) brands turned out to be the most loyal to cars from China. For them, cars from China are a priority choice.
A high level of brand loyalty is noted among Changan owners, who primarily choose X5 Plus and Uni-K models instead of their car. The owners of the Chery and Haval cars are also looking at models of their own brand.
"Moreover, the owners of some models are so happy with their cars that they again consider buying such a car as a priority. For example, the owners of the Geely Monjaro have this car in the first place as a possible purchase. The situation is almost similar with Chery Tiggo (T11), Changan X5 Plus, Geely Coolray and Lifan X60 — all these models occupy the first places as a new purchase," the experts noted.
On August 28, it became known that the leader of the rating of the most popular crossovers in the Russian secondary market for the first seven months of 2025 is the Toyota RAV4, excluding the VAZ Niv in the SUV segment.
