Russia and China will deepen cooperation in the healthcare sector in all key areas. This was announced on September 2 by Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko after a meeting with Chairman of the PRC State Commission on Healthcare Lei Haichao in Beijing.

"Today we signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of digital transformation of healthcare. This document lays the foundation for joint work on the implementation of advanced IT solutions, the development of telemedicine and the creation of intelligent healthcare systems," Murashko said after the meeting.

According to him, Russia and China are already successfully cooperating in many areas, including medical education and scientific research, infection control, emergency response and disaster medicine.

Murashko added that there is a growing interest of Chinese citizens in studying in Russia in the field of medical education. The total number of Chinese students in Russian medical universities has exceeded 1.6 thousand people. Also, as part of the development of medical services exports, more than 306,000 Chinese citizens have been treated in Russian clinics since 2021.

"My Chinese colleague and I have agreed to go further and create a permanent mechanism for bilateral contacts, and we have already outlined concrete steps to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in all major areas," the head of the department concluded.

Earlier in the day, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko had already discussed active cooperation between Russia and China in the field of medicine and medical education. He said that 48 domestic universities and 56 educational institutions from China participate in the experience exchange programs.
