VTB will support the implementation of a program to restore the population of rare animals that are on the verge of extinction in Russia. These include Przewalski's horses, saigas, and snow leopards. The Wildlife and Peace Foundation will deal with their breeding and population increase. This was announced at the WEF-2025 by Petr Shpilenok, Advisor to the President and Chairman of the VTB Board, Director of the Foundation for Nature Defenders.

"In June, we announced plans to create a support system for specially protected natural areas. Combining the expertise of the foundation and VTB's resources will allow us to scale this initiative and find new opportunities for the conservation of endangered species," said Petr Shpilenok.

The initiatives supported by VTB are aimed at creating a natural infrastructure for rare animals, as well as providing for educational and awareness-raising events that will draw attention to the problem of their complete disappearance.

"We support projects and organizations with very clear and understandable tasks, the solution of each of which brings us closer to achieving the main goal. For example, knowing that it is difficult for saigas in the steppe to survive without fresh water, we finance canal cleaning in Kalmykia. Thanks to VTB's support, we will be able to implement a number of important infrastructure projects that will benefit nature and society for years," comments Anastasia Potekina, Chairman of the Wildlife and Peace Charitable Foundation.

Another area of cooperation between VTB and the Wildlife and Peace Foundation is the conservation of the snow leopard, one of the rarest predators on the planet. The project includes the filming of the documentary "Humans and Leopards", the publication of a specialized encyclopedia, the creation of a complete catalog of all 87 snow leopard species living in Russia, as well as the development of educational programs for children.
