The representative office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced the closure of its delegation in Azerbaijan from September 3 by decision of the country's authorities. This was announced on September 2 by the organization's press service on its website.
"By the decision of the Government of Azerbaijan, on September 3, 2025, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) closes its delegation in the country," the statement said.
It is noted that the ICRC will continue to work with the Government of Azerbaijan to provide assistance to people in accordance with the organization's mandate and Baku's obligations under the Geneva Conventions. In addition, the Red Cross will continue to cooperate on humanitarian diplomacy and other issues of mutual interest.
