The first high-speed train for HSR began to be assembled in the Urals
Preparations for the creation of a high-speed railway (HSR) between Moscow and St. Petersburg were discussed at a meeting on the implementation of the project. One of the main tasks is the construction of the first Russian high—speed train, the production of which began at the plant in Verkhnyaya Pyshma.
A video conference was held, during which welding of the rolling stock body was launched. More than 150 organizations are involved in this work.
"We really hope, while we are on schedule, that by 2028 we will have built and commissioned 28 high-speed trains, and we will continue to follow schedule and step up construction efforts. In fact, this is the real embodiment of Russia's technological sovereignty in implementing the presidential high—speed railway construction project," said Vitaly Saveliev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
Thus, with the help of a high-speed highway, the travel time between Moscow and St. Petersburg will be two hours and 15 minutes, while trains will travel at a speed of 360 km/h. It is expected that about 23 million passengers will use the highway annually.
On July 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded to specify the time frame for the examination of the high-speed railway project. Saveliev said that the end of the examination is scheduled for September 15.
On March 14, 2024, the President of the Russian Federation launched the construction of the Moscow–St. Petersburg high-speed railway. Already in April 2024, Russian Railways signed an agreement on the manufacture of two trains for this highway with Ural Locomotives. The total length of the route will be 680 km.
