The average term of car loans for new and used cars in Russia in July was 5.5 years (65.7 months). Compared to the beginning of summer, this indicator increased by 2%, it continues to recover from the fall at the beginning of the year and has been growing for the third month in a row, the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI) reported September 2.

So, compared with the lowest value of the average car loan term (in January of this year), the indicator increased by 6.2% (or 3.8 months). And compared to July last year, the average term decreased by 3.1% (from 67.8 months).

The largest average term of car loans issued in the regions in July was recorded in the Tyumen Region (with Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District), it amounted to 72.6 months. The Krasnodar Territory (72.1 months) and the Novosibirsk Region (70.9 months) are also in the top three. The lowest rate was recorded in Samara (59.9 months) and Belgorod (60.5 months) regions. At the same time, the most serious growth dynamics in July 2025 compared to the previous month was recorded in the Stavropol Territory (+4.6%) and the Tula region (+4.3%).

According to Alexey Volkov, NBKI's marketing director, from the middle of last year to the beginning of 2025, the average term of car loans decreased against the background of a reduction in their issuance and the average check.

Also, according to the NBKI, in January-July 2025, car loans were issued in the amount of 713.6 billion rubles, or 46.2% (or 1.9 times) less than in the same period last year. In July of this year, the average amount of car loans issued amounted to 1.38 million rubles, an increase of 4.9% compared to the previous month. This indicator has been growing for the fifth month in a row.

Earlier, on August 26, it was reported that 98.3 thousand car loans were issued in Russia in July 2025. This is 38.3% less than in the middle of last year. However, compared to June of this year, this indicator increased by 10.5%.
