Fico stated the impossibility of Ukraine joining NATO

On September 2, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in China that Ukraine could not become a member of NATO.

"On the one hand, we say that every country has the right to decide on its prospects, but on the other hand, we emphasize that Ukraine must meet all the requirements related to joining the European Union. <...> We support Ukraine in this regard, on the other hand, I emphasize and I say this from the very beginning, that Ukraine cannot become a member of NATO. This is my final decision, but as for joining the EU, we are ready to cooperate with Ukraine," Fico said.
