VTB's business guarantee support amounted to 3 trillion rubles over five years
Over the past five years, VTB has provided guarantees and letters of credit worth more than 3 trillion rubles to medium and small businesses. This was announced on the eve of the WEF-2025 by Ruslan Eremenko, a member of the VTB Board.
According to him, the development of documentary products has become one of the key factors in supporting Russian entrepreneurship. VTB provides guarantees that allow entrepreneurs to fulfill their obligations to partners and customers, Eremenko said. The Bank also offers business settlements using letters of credit both in the Russian Federation and in international transactions.
"Bank guarantees and letters of credit have become effective tools for improving the financial stability of medium and small businesses. Over the past few years, digitalization has made them as accessible as possible to entrepreneurs across the country and simplified business participation in government and commercial projects," said a member of the VTB Board.
As Eremenko explained, the transition to remote product registration has become the standard in the banking market — in VTB, two thirds of guarantees are issued online by small businesses. This year, the demand for express guarantees increased by 20% compared to 2024. The largest number of sales is accounted for by performance guarantees, which are necessary to confirm the reliability of the business when concluding contracts for the supply of goods and services.
According to VTB, the main volumes of guarantees were received by enterprises in the transport and infrastructure industries (28%), trade (18%), mechanical engineering and metalworking (13%), as well as housing and commercial construction (12%).
