Belgium's recognition of Palestine is important for the stabilization of the situation in the Middle East. This was stated on September 2 by political analyst Dmitry Brije to Izvestia.

"Everyone understands well that the solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the solution to all conflicts in the Middle East. Russia also supports the idea of creating two states so that the Palestinians can have their own state and Israel's interests are protected," the expert said.

Brydje stressed that the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip requires active measures. In his opinion, recognizing Palestine could be an important step to put pressure on the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop the violence. The expert believes that such a signal will push Tel Aviv to a more constructive dialogue.

"The more countries recognize the state of Palestine, the more pressure methods and tools there will be to force Israel to stop fighting, as well as to force Hamas to release hostages and negotiate with Israel, the sooner the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip will end," the political scientist concluded.
