- The Liberal Democratic Party proposed to introduce free travel for pregnant women in the Russian Federation
The Liberal Democratic Party proposed introducing free travel for pregnant women to ensure their access to quality obstetric care, especially in remote and rural areas. The initiative of the Izvestia party was reviewed on September 2.
The LDPR political party suggests paying special attention to the problem of access to obstetric care in the regions, especially in remote and rural areas, the party said in a statement.
LDPR notes that in some regions of Russia there are no maternity hospitals and perinatal centers, which forces pregnant women to travel considerable distances to receive medical care. These costs are borne by families, creating an additional financial burden and increasing the risks of late admission to medical institutions.
In this regard, the party offered to compensate for the costs of transportation and accompanying persons if they seek help in maternity hospitals and perinatal centers located outside their place of permanent residence. Such a measure, according to the Liberal Democratic Party, will improve the availability of medical care and reduce the number of complications during childbirth.
Similar measures are already in effect in the Leningrad and Murmansk regions, as well as in some other regions of Russia.
On July 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on Wednesday to increase the maternity allowance for female students to 100% of the regional minimum subsistence level. It was specified that the law will enter into force on September 1 of this year.
