Four cracks have been successfully sealed on the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS). This was announced on September 1 at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (CPC).

"In the period from 2020 to the beginning of 2024, astronauts discovered four through cracks on the ISS, which were successfully sealed," the message published on the official website says.

It is specified that the repaired places are monitored using an ultrasonic, eddy current flaw detector, as well as an ultrasonic thickness gauge.

The CPC added that at the moment there are no atmospheric leaks there, but experts intend to continue monitoring places where there may be problems with tightness, clarifiesГазета.Ru ".

In July, the deputy head of Roscosmos, Sergey Krikalev, reported that the air leakage observed on the Russian segment of the ISS had significantly decreased, but was still ongoing. He added that both Russian and American engineers and scientists had joined forces to study the issue of crack propagation, intercrystalline corrosion and other aspects.
