The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine was surprised by the absence of a conflict topic in the final statement of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries. This was reported on September 2 by The New York Times.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in its statement called it "surprising" that the final communique of the summit did not mention [the conflict]," the publication says.
