Belgium recognizes the State of Palestine at the session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which will be held in September. This was announced on September 1 by Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevost on the social network X.

"Belgium recognizes Palestine at the UN session! And tough sanctions are being imposed against Israel. Any anti—Semitism or glorification of terrorism by supporters of [the radical Palestinian movement] Hamas will also be strongly condemned," he wrote.

It is specified that the recognition of the Palestinian state will be made within the framework of a joint initiative of France and Saudi Arabia.

On September 1, British Foreign Minister Devil Lammy also confirmed London's plans to recognize Palestine. He added that all factors related to the recognition of the state will be considered, at the moment it is scheduled for the second half of September.
