In Russia, an employee can be fired at the initiative of the employer for taking selfies at the workplace if the shooting violates trade secrets or personal data protection. Alexander Khaminsky, a lawyer and head of the law enforcement center in Moscow and the Moscow Region, told about this on September 2.

"In general, the employer independently decides whether to ban or allow photo and video filming at the workplace. Specific provisions regarding such prohibitions are established by local regulations, which employees must be familiar with at the time of signing an employment contract," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Such prohibitions may be related to the protection of trade secrets, the protection of personal data and production processes. For violations, an employee may be subject to disciplinary punishment, including dismissal.

In addition, taking selfies and rolls during a shift can be considered a violation of the working day. This allows you to deduct the employee's filming time from the paid one.

In some fields of activity, an employee may also be fired for taking photos outside the workplace. According to the eighth paragraph of Article 81 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation ("Termination of an employment contract at the initiative of the employer"), a teacher who has published his photos at a party or in a swimsuit may be dismissed from the workplace. Such photos are regarded as an immoral act that is incompatible with further work in an educational institution.

"Judges may also be fired for publishing photos and videos that may be considered unethical. Many workplaces may be located at high-security facilities where photography is initially prohibited. This is especially true of military units, closed institutions, and so on," Khaminsky added.

On August 14, Izvestia learned that the main reason for the dismissal of teachers remains the gap between expectations and the reality of working conditions, as well as low wages. Among other reasons for leaving school, teachers cited the need to engage in imitation activities — to fill out unnecessary reports and take fictitious courses, the independent trade union "Teacher" reported. Teachers also complain about the high workload and fatigue from constant innovations.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
