Psychologist Lykov spoke about the child's adaptation to school
The successful adaptation of a first-grader to study depends not only on knowledge, but also on emotional, volitional and social readiness, said Evgeny Lykov, psychologist at the NIKI Childhood Training Center, on Monday, September 1.
In an interview with Radio 1, he noted that it is important to teach a child to manage emotions, complete tasks and interact with other people. According to the expert, adults can help with this through games and rituals.
For example, teacher—student role-playing exercises reduce anxiety, board games like bingo or memo develop perseverance and self-control, and repetitive actions give a child a sense of stability.
Lykov stressed that even well-prepared children can experience fears and moods at the beginning of the school year. Parents should not devalue them, it is important to remain calm, support the child and help to cope with emotions.
Also on September 1, nutritionist Rimma Moisenko called for monitoring the nutrition of children at school, because it affects the state of the body and forms food stereotypes.
Earlier on August 27, teacher psychologist, family psychologist Natalia Maklakova said that a child's fear of school is a normal and frequent reaction. According to RT, it is important to listen to the child without judgment, accept his feelings and support.
Also, Maria Maklakova, in a conversation with RIAMO, noted that fear of school is a frequent and normal reaction among children and said that it is important not to ignore anxiety, but to help the child feel supported and safe.
