At a meeting with international media in Caracas, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro accused the United States of creating a "bloody threat." He announced this on September 1 to the journalists of This Is Beirut.

Maduro said that eight American ships with more than 1,200 missiles and a submarine were sent to the shores of the country. At a meeting with international media in Caracas, he called the US actions "the biggest threat in the last 100 years" and promised to mobilize more than four million militias to defend the country.

"In response to maximum military pressure, we have declared maximum readiness to defend Venezuela," Maduro stressed.

Washington claims that the operation is aimed at combating drug trafficking and has previously accused the Venezuelan leader of involvement in drug trafficking. Despite this, the United States has not publicly talked about plans for a military invasion.

Earlier, on August 28, it was reported that the United States had sent at least seven ships and a nuclear submarine with ballistic missiles to the shores of Venezuela. Tensions between the two countries have increased. It was also noted that most of the ships are equipped with Tomahawk missiles that can hit ground targets.

On August 19, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto noted the desperate situation of the United States due to threats and slander against the Latin American country. He stressed that Venezuela is accused of drug trafficking, thereby showing the weak position of the United States.
