The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has charged Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of the Republic of Chechnya, with suspicion in absentia under an article related to alleged "war crimes." The agency announced this on September 1.

"Based on new evidence, Security Service investigators informed Kadyrov in absentia of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("War crimes")," the agency's Telegram channel says.
