NMG and China's Xinhua News Agency sign cooperation agreement

The National Media Group (NMG) and the Chinese news agency Xinhua have signed a cooperation agreement. The signing ceremony took place on September 1 as part of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to China.

"Cooperation with Xinhua opens up unique opportunities for us to share best practices in the production and distribution of media content. We are creating a powerful collaboration platform that will allow not only the exchange of information materials, but also the development of new media production formats, strengthen the professional competencies of our employees through joint training programs and internships. We will pay special attention to the accuracy and reliability of information when covering events in our countries, which will be an important contribution to the development of trusting relations between our peoples," said Svetlana Balanova, Director General of NMG.

NMG and Xinhua have agreed on the exchange of media content and joint production. A system of internships and training programs for the exchange of experience between company employees will also be developed.

The parties also agreed on mutual support in the distribution of media products on both national and international platforms. The agreement also provides for the exchange of correspondent network resources.

"The National Media Group is a very large and powerful organization. And the newspaper Izvestia is very well known to many Chinese readers. The cooperation between our two organizations already has a long history. Back in 2019, we developed a draft memorandum of mutual cooperation, but due to the epidemic, we did not sign this memorandum then. But the contacts between us have not been interrupted," said Liu Yansong, editor—in-chief of the Xinhua news agency.

Earlier, on May 8, NMG and the Media Corporation of China (CMG) signed a cooperation agreement. It involves the exchange and joint creation of content, information technology interaction and the exchange of professional experience of specialists in order to further develop cultural ties and strengthen friendly relations between Moscow and Beijing.
