An extraordinary meeting of the NATO–Ukraine Council will be held in Brussels on September 1. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga.
"An extraordinary meeting of the Ukraine–NATO Council will be held in Brussels today," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
It is specified that the meeting will be held at the request of Ukraine. In addition, Kiev thanked the alliance and other allies for their support.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said yesterday that European leaders were hindering US President Donald Trump's efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine peacefully. According to him, the actions of European politicians are in stark contrast to the approach of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the American leader.
The next day, on September 1, Putin, during a speech at a meeting of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), expressed hope for progress on a settlement in Ukraine based on the mutual understanding reached at the Russian-American summit in Alaska.
