Traffic lights began to show in navigators in real time
Data from the data center on traffic light signals in real time began to be displayed in Yandex Maps and Yandex Navigator. The new functionality is currently available only in some areas of the Garden Ring, but in the coming year all districts of Moscow will be included in the system. This was announced on September 1 by the Moscow Department of Transport in its Telegram channel.
Drivers on the way will be able to find out in advance what signal is on at the nearest intersection and how much time is left before its change. Information about traffic light cycles is transmitted to the data center from an intelligent transport system. The technology is synchronized with smart traffic lights, which are equipped with timers and show current signals.
The new functionality has also appeared in the 2GIS geoservice, the company's press service told Izvestia. The navigator began displaying smart traffic lights inside Moscow's Third Ring Road, as well as in Khoroshevsky, Dorogomilovsky districts, Ramenki and Filevsky Park. This feature is available in the current version of the app for iOS and Android. It is stated that in the near future, traffic light signals will be displayed throughout Moscow, and in 2026 it is planned to connect other cities.
Earlier, on August 31, it was reported that residents of Moscow, the Moscow region and the Republic of Dagestan most often violated traffic rules in 2024.
On August 29, the Moscow Department of Transport announced that according to the results of seven months of 2025, the most common traffic violation on the roads of the capital is speeding. Its share immediately amounted to 53% of all violations (11.4 million cases). The second most common violation of road marking requirements is with a share of 14% (3.1 million cases). Most often, this is the intersection of a solid line and the marking of an island.
