Quarantine was introduced due to a dangerous weed in the Tula region

Rosselkhoznadzor has imposed quarantine in connection with the discovery of a midwife in the Tula region. Specialists will carry out measures to combat the parasitic plant.

The midge was found on agricultural land in the Plavsky district. The area of the hearth is more than 53 hectares, TSN24 writes. A quarantine phytosanitary regime has been introduced.

Midge refers to parasitic weeds. It has no roots or leaves, and the stems are embedded in the host plant to feed on its juices. The weed disrupts the metabolism of plants, weakens them and delays growth. When feeding to animals, the midwife can cause diseases.

In the Pskov region, at the end of August, a quarantine was introduced for a large black spruce barbel. The area of the quarantine zone exceeded 22 thousand hectares in Velikiye Luki and Nevelsky districts.
