Mourning events in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack began on the morning of September 1. People lined up at the destroyed gym to lay flowers at the photos of the dead and light candles. At 9:15 a.m., the bell rang — at that time in 2004, terrorists seized the school.

The main funeral events will be held on September 3 in the building of the destroyed school and at the Memorial Cemetery "City of Angels". There, to the sound of a metronome, the names and surnames of the dead will be listed, after which the students will release 334 white balloons into the sky — according to the number of dead.

Relatives of the victims shared their stories. Svetlana Hasanova's sister and two nephews died. She said that the pain does not subside, people just learn to live with it. Zoya Khamitsayeva lost her daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren. The man was shot on the very first day for refusing to mine the gym. Zoya said she was counting by the day how many of her loved ones were dead. They died 7670 days ago.

On September 1, the funeral event was attended by the head of North Ossetia Sergey Menyailo, the former head of the Republic Vyacheslav Bitarov, representatives of the Federation Council, the State Duma, members of the government and deputies of the Parliament of North Ossetia, representatives of public and religious organizations, former hostages and their relatives.

"When I reported to the president (Vladimir Putin — Ed.) in 2021 on the creation of a complex (cultural and patriotic - Ed.), we decided that it was necessary to make sure that all the terrorist attacks, all the grief that was suffered from terrorism, were combined in one place, on the basis of school No. 1 in Beslan. Because this is the most inhumane, the largest terrorist act," Menyailo said.

In the cultural and patriotic center "Beslan. School No. 1" the exposition took place. Among the exhibits there were hostages' belongings, items from school classrooms, as well as stands showing the development of the tragedy minute by minute.

On August 20, 2024, Putin instructed Sergei Menyailo to keep under control the criminal case of the terrorist attack in Beslan. On September 11, 2024, the Investigative Committee of Russia announced that the composition of the investigative group in the case of the terrorist attack that occurred at school No. 1 in Beslan in 2004 would be increased. In addition, the chairman of the Investigative Committee stated that it is necessary to analyze the case materials collected at the initial stage.
