On September 1, a school opened in the village of Kurakhovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), which accepted six first-graders this year.

In total, 28 schoolchildren from nearby settlements in the DPR will study at the educational institution.

"This is actually not a school, but a former kindergarten. The school in this village was bombed, and the teachers who restored it remained here," said Sergei Dobrovolsky, head of the Young Guard of United Russia in the DPR.

The footage shows that both children and parents were present at the lineup, despite the foggy morning. The teachers greeted the children, and one of the students painted "Scarlet Sails", which became the symbol of the school.

Earlier in the day, on September 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated students of schools, universities, colleges, their parents, and teachers on Knowledge Day. The Head of the Russian Federation added that the state will do everything possible to ensure that all Russian children have the best conditions for mastering modern knowledge. According to him, over the past six years, more than 1.6 thousand new schools have been built in Russia, which accommodate more than 1 million children.
