The emergency mode was introduced in the Ust-Aldan region of Yakutia due to wildfires. As of September 1, there are 22 fires in 10 districts in the region, YakutiaMedia news agency reports, citing the operational headquarters.

During the day, it was possible to eliminate three fires with a total area of 1.5 thousand hectares. The fire engulfed more than 15 thousand hectares. Two foci have been localized on an area of 55.5 hectares in Vilyuysky and Verkhnekolymsky districts. 371 people are fighting the fire.

The operational staff reported that exactly one year ago, there were five forest fires in the republic on an area exceeding 75 thousand hectares.

Since the beginning of the fire season, 353 wildfires have been extinguished in Yakutia. Their total area was more than 164 thousand hectares.

A special fire protection regime began operating in the republic on June 5. It extends to its entire territory. Additionally, the regime was introduced in the Olekminsky, Churapchinsky, Eveno-Bytantaysky districts and the village of Zhatai.

Earlier, on August 31, it was reported that a forest fire in the Gelendzhik region in the Krasnodar Territory had been extinguished. For four days, more than 500 people fought the fire. More than 100 pieces of equipment, including Be-200 and Il-76 aircraft, as well as Mi-8 helicopters, were also involved in extinguishing the fire.
