Putin congratulates Russians on Knowledge Day
On September 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated students of schools, universities, colleges, their parents, and teachers on Knowledge Day.
"Dear friends, I am glad to congratulate schoolchildren, college students, university students, teachers, parents, and students on Knowledge Day. The biography of each of us is connected with this holiday, because we all started our journey to adulthood at school," said the President of the Russian Federation.
Putin paid special attention to the schoolchildren, for whom the first bell will ring today. He noted that on September 1, a new, responsible and exciting time will begin for all first-graders. The Russian President also expressed confidence that it would be interesting and useful for every student to gain new knowledge.
He also clarified that it will be necessary to master and put into service the digital technologies of the world, including artificial intelligence. According to Putin, absolutely every subject in the school curriculum opens up wide opportunities for students to learn new things.
The Russian President added that the state will do everything possible to ensure that all Russian children have the best conditions for mastering modern knowledge.
"The most serious attention is now being paid to education and the upbringing of the younger generation, the worldwide support of teachers and their noble mission," Putin said.
He noted that over the past six years, more than 1.6 thousand new schools have been built in Russia, which accommodate more than 1 million children. According to the Russian leader, a significant modern renovation is currently taking place in the secondary education system, which is increasingly becoming a conscious choice of young people.
"Today, more than 3.8 million children study at our colleges. Important qualitative changes are taking place at all levels, from kindergartens to universities. And the main goal here is to ensure a reliable life start for the younger generations in practice," the Russian president added.
On August 31, analysts at Skysmart, an online school for children and teenagers, reported that every sixth parent is happy about the start of the school season and the child's return to school, and a third feels nostalgic about their own school years. For most, the beginning of the school year is associated with their own child: one in five (20%) is worried about how the child will study, and parents of older students feel a sense of pride.
