On August 31, Russian athletes returned from the World Youth Swimming Championships in Athens, having won five gold medals.

In total, synchronized swimmers from Russia won seven medals, including one silver and one bronze. Alexandra Pischikova became the winner in the free program solo, and the Russian national team also won in the group free and combined programs.

In addition, gold was awarded to Stanislava Kozlova, who competed in the figure skating discipline. In the same discipline, synchronized swimmers Sofya Mikhailova and Lesya Goncharova managed to take second and third places. In addition, the second gold medal was won by Pischikova, who performed in the free duet program together with Varvara Barabashova.

When the athletes returned to Russia, they were greeted with a loaf and playing the accordion.

"Our team returned from the World Championship today. After a long break from participating in international competitions, our boys and girls, in my opinion, showed excellent results. Five gold, one silver, and one bronze medals," said Olga Brusnikina, Vice President of the Russian Aquatics Federation.

She also noted the high level of technical training of Russian athletes and thanked the entire coaching staff of the national team.

"This victory means a lot to me, because it's my first international start, the first international start of our team in principle," said Alisa Gotalskaya, the gold medalist in the group free skate.

On August 3, Russian athletes finished the World Aquatics Championships in fourth place in the medal standings. The competition was held in Singapore from July 11 to August 3. Russia's representatives have won 18 awards — six gold, eight silver and four bronze medals. The largest number of prizes were won in synchronized swimming, where athletes received three gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
