Russian President Vladimir Putin's plane landed at Binhai Airport in Tianjin, where he begins a four-day visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

During the trip, the head of state will visit Tianjin and Beijing, attend the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and hold a number of talks.

In addition, Putin will attend a military parade in Beijing in honor of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. In Tianjin, Putin was met by an honor guard. During the visit, the Russian leader will travel around China in an Aurus car with Chinese license plates.

On Sunday, August 31, a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will begin in Tianjin. It will last until Monday, September 1st. According to Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui, the summit will be the largest since the founding of the SCO.

Earlier in the day, the Russian flag was raised at the airport in Tianjin in honor of Putin's arrival. Columnist Ivanov, in turn, reported that Russian and Chinese journalists had already taken their places on a special podium, from which the arrival of the Russian president would be visible.
