US President Donald Trump's special Envoy Stephen Witkoff reports on the results of meetings with Russian leader Vladimir Putin directly to the head of the White House. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on August 31.

It is noted that the American special envoy informed Trump about the progress of the negotiations immediately after their results. At the same time, the content of their conversation almost does not reach other employees of the White House administration.

According to the publication, this corresponds to the tendency of the US president to limit himself to a small circle of advisers.

The last meeting between Witkoff and Putin took place on August 6 in the Kremlin. They talked for about three hours. Later, Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov shared that the parties had discussed the conflict in Ukraine and the prospects for the possible development of Russian-American strategic cooperation.

The Reuters news agency reported on August 28 that Witkoff attended the talks with Putin without a stenographer. It was clarified that this prevented the recording of the exact wording of the proposals of the President of the Russian Federation during the meeting.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
