Former Russian Prime Minister Sergei Stepashin expressed hope for common sense in Austria on the issue of potential NATO membership. He expressed his opinion on August 31 in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"I really hope that there (in Austria. There are no idiots," Stepashin stressed, answering a question about Russia's reaction to Austria's possible accession to the alliance.
