On August 31, the head of the White House, Donald Trump, announced his plans to change the US electoral system, eliminating the possibility of voting by mail.
"A voter's ID card should be a part of every vote. <...> I will issue a corresponding decree!" he said in a message posted on the Truth Social network.
The President added that the only exceptions may be cases of illness or military service. He urged citizens to use only paper ballots.
On August 18, Trump expressed his opinion about voting by mail, calling it corruption and a fraudulent scheme. He also stressed that the United States needs reliable borders and fair elections.
