France has developed its own proposals for new sanctions against Russia, which it will demonstrate at an informal meeting of European foreign ministers in Copenhagen. This was announced on August 30 by the head of the French Foreign Ministry, Jean-Noel Barraud.

In an interview with reporters, he stressed that this topic would be raised on the morning of August 31.

"I will present proposals developed by France so that we can deplete [Russia's] resources by targeting the energy sector, the financial sector and possibly some civilian sectors," he told reporters.

The Euractiv portal learned a day earlier that the European Union intends to increase pressure on Moscow with the upcoming 19th package of sanctions against Russia. However, as the publication clarified, the ability of Western countries to impose restrictions against Russia is "approaching the limit."

On August 27, State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa said that the new sanctions could become a "locomotive for the development" of the Russian industry, as they are not only negative, but also positive.
