Ex-governor of Sakhalin pleads guilty to bribery

Alexander Khoroshavin, the former governor of the Sakhalin Region, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison for bribery, confessed to what he had done. This follows from the case file, which was reviewed by TASS on August 31.

"Khoroshavin A.V. repented of what he had done, admitted his guilt, <...> does not shy away from fulfilling the program of psychological correction of his personality," the case file says.

It is also reported that the convict paid 12 million rubles out of the 500 million fine that was imposed on him by the court verdict. To repay the fine, he pays 10 thousand rubles each month.

On August 30, it became known that Khoroshavin had asked to be sent to serve in the special military operation zone.

In April 2022, Khoroshavin was sentenced to 15 years in a corrupt criminal case. He was accused of committing crimes under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving bribes"), Part 1 of Article 30, Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Preparation for receiving bribes"). The materials of the second criminal case were submitted from the investigation to the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk city court in April 2020, the first meeting was held on September 7 of the same year.
