Erdogan flew to China to attend the SCO summit
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan flew to Tianjin of the People's Republic of China (PRC) to participate in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and meetings with leaders of other states. This was reported by the Anadolu agency on August 30.
"Erdogan went to the Chinese city of Tianjin to attend the summit of the SCO Council of Heads of State," the statement said.
It is noted that the Turkish leader was accompanied at the airport by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, Ankara Governor Vasip Sahin and a number of other officials.
Erdogan will address the expanded session of the summit this Monday, September 1. In addition, he has scheduled bilateral meetings with the heads of other countries, including Chinese President Xi Jinping.
On August 25, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui called the upcoming SCO summit, which will be held from August 31 to September 1, the "most ambitious" since the founding of the organization. According to him, the meeting will be attended by over 20 heads of state, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.
