On August 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated everyone who works in mines, mines, processing plants, trains personnel for the coal industry, and manufactures mining equipment on Miner's Day.

"Dear friends, I cordially congratulate you. <...> This holiday is widely celebrated these days in all our coal mining regions. They honor those who devoted themselves to the intense, extremely difficult and difficult mining business," he said.

The President of the Russian Federation noted that the contribution of workers in this industry depends on strengthening the country's fuel and energy potential, as well as the economic and social well-being of all regions. According to him, the state will do everything possible to ensure the sustainable long-term development of the coal industry and will support the teams of coal mining companies.

In addition, Putin added that throughout the country's history, the work of representatives of this profession has enjoyed well-deserved respect. He recalled that 2025 marks the 90th anniversary of the world record of Alexey Stakhanov's brigade, which was able to produce 102 tons of coal in one shift. According to him, the day of the labor feat of the Stakhanovites has become the national day of the miner and in Russia it is traditionally celebrated every year.

"This is a great reason to say the warmest words to the miners today. You, dear friends, have a strong, direct character. You can always be relied upon, and your loyalty to the brotherhood of labor speaks to the dignity of a true working man," Putin said.

He also expressed special gratitude to the miners of Kuzbass, where more than half of Russia's coal is mined, as well as to the miners of Donbass, who work in the most difficult conditions and set an example of resilience and reliability.

On August 18, Putin congratulated the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) on its 180th anniversary. He thanked the representatives of the Russian Geographical Society for their discoveries and heroic expeditions, which gave mankind a huge amount of knowledge about Eurasia, the Pacific region, as well as about the Arctic and Antarctica. The Russian President said that thanks to the Russian Geographical Society, the country has become one of the leaders in the areas of balanced development and use of natural resources and the formation of global transport routes.
