- As a result of the invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region, 590 people were missing.
In the Kursk region, 590 people are considered missing after the invasion of the region by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on August 30 by the acting governor of the region, Alexander Khinshtein.
"The fate of 1,542 people from the registry has been established: 1,430 of them are alive and 112, unfortunately, are dead. 590 people are still considered missing," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Khinstein noted that the authorities have information about the fate of 300 Kuryans — these people are alive, in captivity or in liberated settlements. There are also dead people among them.
"According to colleagues from the office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, 23 Kuryans are in the Sumy region, and negotiations are underway on them. This work will continue no matter what. Unfortunately, there is still no accurate information about the fate of 290 people," the acting governor added.
Prior to that, on May 31, Khinstein reported that 1,290 residents of the Kursk border region who had lost contact with their relatives due to the invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces had been found. The approximate location of 421 people has also been established. According to the acting governor, the fate of 576 people, including four minors, remains unknown. The search for them is ongoing.
