Kallas acknowledged the lack of funds from the European Union to help Ukraine
The European Union (EU) countries are experiencing a lack of funds to continue financing Ukraine. This was announced on August 30 by the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, following an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Copenhagen.
"The ministers recognized the need to address Ukraine's funding gap and hold Russia accountable for the military destruction. To achieve this goal, it is extremely important to explore all available ways while minimizing potential risks," Kallas said.
At the same time, she stated that the EU countries have no consensus on the use of frozen assets of the Russian Federation for Ukraine.
Hans Neuhoff, a member of the European Parliament's Defense and Security Committee, said in an interview with Izvestia on August 29 that the EU was trying to find additional funds for Ukraine, as the available funds had been exhausted.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on August 17 that the 19th package of EU sanctions against Russia would be ready in early September. According to her, the EU has already begun preparations for new restrictions. The diplomat added that Europe will continue to exert economic pressure on Russia, as well as tighten restrictions.
