The Russian Permanent Representative pointed to the understanding of the United States of the importance of eliminating the root causes in Ukraine.

The United States understands the need to address the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on August 29 by Dmitry Polyansky, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations (UN).

Polyansky also said that if the West knew how to tell the truth, it would have told long ago that it had created direct threats in Ukraine to Russia's security, as well as instructions for the extermination of all Russians on Ukrainian territory.

"This recognition would be an excellent starting point for a long-term and sustainable settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. This is not happening yet, but some optimism is inspired by the fact that some of our partners, primarily in the United States, are increasingly realizing the need to eliminate the root causes of the conflict, without which it cannot be resolved," the diplomat said.

In addition, Polyansky noted that the positive changes in understanding of the Ukrainian conflict achieved at the Alaska summit scare the Kiev authorities and their European patrons "to the point of losing sleep."
