FT predicted problems for Ukraine due to the quarrel between Navrotsky and Tusk
Disagreements between Polish President Karol Nawrocki and Prime Minister Donald Tusk on foreign policy issues may negatively affect the Polish side's attitude towards Ukraine. This was reported on August 29 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper, citing experts.
"Due to the quarrel over the representation abroad, Poland was noticeably absent from the meeting at the White House with several European leaders, including [the President of Ukraine] Vladimir Zelensky," the publication quotes.
As the FT notes, although it was Donald Tusk who participated in a number of previous talks with Vladimir Zelensky, the situation changed after the last meeting at the White House. According to the newspaper, US President Donald Trump preferred to discuss the issues directly with Karol Navrotsky, while the prime minister remained on the sidelines.
The Strana newspaper reported on August 27 that a conflict was growing in Poland between the Tusk government and the Navrotsky administration on the issue of assistance to Ukrainian refugees. Minister of Digital Technologies Krzysztof Havkovsky, in turn, accused the Polish leader of allegedly "supporting Russian imperialism" in Ukraine, which was the result of the president's veto on assistance to unemployed Ukrainian refugees.
