FT announced Trump's proposal to deploy Chinese peacekeepers in Ukraine
US President Donald Trump has expressed the idea of the possible participation of Chinese peacekeeping forces in maintaining security in Ukraine. This was reported on August 29 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper.
"Trump has proposed deploying Chinese peacekeepers to monitor the neutral zone along the 1.3-kilometer front line in Ukraine as part of a peace settlement with Russia," the article says.
It is clarified that European countries and Ukraine have expressed disagreement with the proposal to send Chinese peacekeepers, referring to Beijing's friendship with Moscow.
A senior Trump administration official, in turn, denied reports of discussions about the possibility of involving Chinese peacekeepers in Ukraine.
On August 28, FT reported that Trump had seriously changed his position on providing Ukraine with security guarantees after the conflict ended. According to the head of the White House, in order to establish peace in Ukraine, the contribution of the American side to ensuring its sustainability is necessary.
