On August 29, local residents of the village of Sulevkent in Dagestan told about the moment of the explosion at a gas station.

"Flames, everything is smoking <...> I came close at that moment, and literally 15 minutes later there was an explosion," said Magomed Sulimanov, one of the local residents.

He added that after the explosion, iron fragments flew in all directions. According to him, there was a very strong heat coming from the fire.

In addition, another local resident, Abdulaev Kurban, said he was away at the time of the incident. Friends called him and informed him that his hay had caught fire. He added that when he arrived, all the animal supplies that had been harvested for a month were completely engulfed in flames.

"The most powerful explosion was visible from any end of the village, and only the wreckage and carcasses of cars remained as a reminder of the incident," said Daniyal Isaev, a correspondent for Izvestia.

A fire at a gas station in the Khasavyurt district of Dagestan occurred earlier in the day. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Dagestan clarified in the Telegram channel that the fire started after the gas carrier's tank was depressurized. Rescuers noted that there was a threat of flames spreading to a private apartment building, but it was eliminated.

Later, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the open gorenje had been eliminated. As a result of the fire, a KAMAZ truck and a tractor were destroyed. The Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the region added that a criminal case had been opened into violations of industrial safety requirements.
