A Ukrainian who threatened to set fire to the houses of Poles was detained in Poland.
Polish law enforcement authorities have arrested a Ukrainian citizen for posting threats on a social network to set fire to houses related to the cancellation of social benefits for unemployed Ukrainians. This was reported on August 29 by the Wiadomosci newspaper with reference to the Warsaw police.
"Police detained a 29-year-old Ukrainian citizen in the Prague-Yuzhnaya district of Warsaw. The man posted outrageous materials on social media, including arson threats," the publication says.
It is specified that the man was detained a few hours after the information about him was received. His publications on the Internet are currently being studied to determine whether they posed a threat to public safety.
According to available information, an investigation has been launched, as a result of which the man will be charged under Article 255 of the Criminal Code of Poland ("Distribution or publication of content that may
to facilitate the commission of a terrorist crime").
In addition, the Warsaw police contacted the Vistula Border Guard Service to arrange his deportation.
On July 16, the Polish Sejm approved changes to the program of assistance to Ukrainian refugees, according to which, from November 1, the Collective Refugee Accommodation Centers (OZZ) will accept only representatives of protected groups from Ukraine. These groups include pensioners, pregnant women, and people with disabilities.
Later, on August 25, Polish President Karol Nawrocki vetoed a bill extending the special status and benefits for refugees from Ukraine. The Polish leader also proposed limiting the access of unemployed Ukrainian refugees to free medical insurance.
