- The Russian Ambassador spoke about the EU's discussion in Denmark of "guarantees for Europe" on Ukraine
At a meeting of the "coalition of the willing" in Copenhagen, guarantees for Europe were discussed that Ukraine would continue to be able to conduct military operations against Russia. This was announced by Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin in an interview with Izvestia on August 29.
"It was announced that security guarantees for Ukraine would be discussed at a meeting of the EU defense ministers. However, to be precise, in fact, it was not security guarantees for Ukraine that were discussed in Copenhagen, but guarantees for Europe that Ukraine would continue to be able to continue fighting against Russia," Barbin said.
Denmark, as the current EU president, convinced European countries of the need to increase arms supplies to Kiev and increase investments in military production in Ukraine, the diplomat added.
According to the Russian Ambassador to Denmark, the European Union has once again demonstrated its disinterest in achieving peace, according to which Ukraine cannot be used as a tool of struggle against Russia.
Earlier in the day, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, promised the militarization of Ukraine as a guarantee of security for Kiev from the European Union (EU). Callas also called for thinking about the upcoming arms supplies to Kiev.
On August 20, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia agrees that security guarantees for Kiev should be provided on an equal basis with the participation of China, the United States, Britain, France and other countries. He added that in the issue of guarantees of Ukraine's security, it is necessary to focus on the developments achieved during the negotiations.
