Two climbers who were hit by a rockfall on Dzhangi-Tau Mountain in Kabardino-Balkaria were taken to the hospital in a moderate condition. This was announced on August 29 by the press service of the Republican Clinical Hospital in the Telegram channel.

"Upon admission, their condition was assessed as moderate. After a full diagnosis, each individual was assigned an individual treatment strategy," the medical institution said in a statement.

One victim had external fixation devices applied using a compression distraction device for external fixation. After the operation, the patient was transferred to the combined trauma unit for further observation and treatment.

The second climber was hospitalized in the neurosurgery department, where his neurological status is being monitored.

On August 27, the press service of the Russian Mountaineering Federation reported that climber Alexander Rastorguev died while climbing Mount Dzhangi-Tau. Over 40 years of athletic activity, Rastorguev has made over 200 ascents and became a master of sports in mountaineering.
